All airlines have specific “free baggage allowances” which determines your free baggage allowance subject to your destination and ticket class. For every kilogram in excess of this free allowance, the airline will charge the traveler a premium to carry this baggage as part of their checked baggage allowance, as much as $70 per kg in some instances.
Excess baggage charges will apply beyond the amounts above, in addition if your allowance is 23kg per piece and any piece exceeds that weight a “heavy charge” will apply.
